About Rafael Lovato Jr.

Rafael Lovato Jr. is widely regarded as one of the most decorated American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors in history. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1983 and raised in Oklahoma City from age 8, Rafael began training in martial arts as a kid under his father's influence before discovering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 13. By 15, he had committed himself fully to the art.

At 21, Rafael became the youngest American to earn a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and he and his father made history as the first American father-and-son BJJ black belts. In 2007, he had one of the greatest years any competitor has had in the sport, winning the European Open, Pan-American, Brazilian National, and World Championships all in the same year — earning him BJJ Competitor of the Year.

Rafael went on to win multiple No-Gi World Championship titles (2010, 2011, 2013), was inducted into the Grapplers Quest Hall of Fame in 2009, and later transitioned to MMA, compiling an 11-0 record and becoming Bellator Middleweight World Champion in 2019. He now owns and operates Lovato's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts in Oklahoma City, where he continues to teach the next generation.

This store carries the official gis, apparel, and gear worn and designed alongside Team Lovato — built for training, competing, and living the jiu-jitsu lifestyle.
